  • Duct Cleaning

In a typical forced-air system with leaky ducts and an inefficient filter, the ducts are usually contaminated with a wide variety of particulates and microorganisms—all directly exposed to the air being breathed by the occupants.
  • Heating and Cooling

From The Healthy House Answer Book: Answers to the 133 most commonly asked questions. Questions 64-71.
  • Setting the Record Straight - Is Sporicidin Safe for Duct Cleaning?

Responding to a question from our readers.
  • Should I Clean My Air Ducts?

If not properly installed, maintained and operated, air duct components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris.
  • Testing Duct Testers

According to DOE’s Building America program data, typical, residential ductwork efficiency is about 67%. That means that if you install a 90% efficient furnace, your system efficiency would be just over 60%. Another way to look at this is that ducts lose 25–40% of the energy that moves through them. Just from a practical standpoint it makes sense to improve the delivery system. Shorter, straighter, better engineered and installed ductwork will improve delivery efficiency.
  • Those Wild Ducts in Your Walls

Typical duct systems lose 25 to 40 percent of the heating or cooling energy put out by the central furnace, heat pump, or air conditioner.
