As part of the ongoing educational partnership between The Healthy House Institute (HHI) and the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI), in November 2010, HHI and HVI produced and circulated a White Paper to selected trade and consumer media. The paper entitled, “Victory over VOCs – Energy-Saving Fans and Other Devices Help Keep Indoor Air Fresh” was sent to major trade publications including:
• Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News
• Eco-Structure Magazine
• Green Builder Magazine
• Green Building Product Dealer
• HVACR Business
• Indoor Comfort News
• Snips Magazine
The paper was highlighted in the January 2011 issue of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News in an article titled Keep Indoor Air Fresh While Saving Energy and will be cited in HVACR Business' Ahead of the Curve newsletter, among other publications.

The White Paper was also sent to a number of major consumer publications including Prevention, Real Simple, and The Daily Green, as well as to specific writers covering the healthy home marketplace.
In addition, as part of the partnership between HVI and HHI, HHI publishes monthly articles from the Home Ventilating Institute on HHI's home page, further emphasizing the value of ventilation and products enabling it.
Recent titles include:
Ventilation - Why and How to Take Control
Ventilation - Why Natural Isn't Enough
Simple Strategies for Reducing Indoor Air Pollution and Improving Indoor Air Quality
Why Ventilation is for People Not Houses
Moreover, there are more than 140 articles discussing ventilation on the HHI site, many of them directly referencing HVI. Site-wide banner advertising for HVI is placed contextually with ventilation articles on the website. An HVI/HHI Q&A Tutorial ad is also positioned next to HVI-authored content on the HHI site.
“From HHI’s perspective, it has been very rewarding to become educated about the many resources available through the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) to assist consumers and contractors in achieving the best of both worlds – realizing an indoor environment with healthy amounts of fresh air combined with meeting energy-saving goals. We have developed a passion for informing the consumer about our findings, and the credibility and reach we bring to the discussion in turn has been helpful to HVI in raising awareness,” said Rathey.
“It is the goal of both organizations to promote a healthier living environment and this partnership aims to help us both reach that target,” said Jacki Golike, CAE, Executive Director for HVI. “We will be collaborating further to reach consumers and professionals with the ventilation information they need in the coming months.”
