The EPA has announced steps to require manufacturers to disclose "inert ingredients" in pesticides which can make up more than 90 percent of formulations. "Inert" does not necessarily mean "safe", and EPA believes disclosure of these ingredients will prompt pesticide companies to replace toxic substances with less-toxic ones.
